In 2025, peacebuilding for Youth Without Borders Organization for Development was not a process managed from the top down. Rather, it was a process that began from within local communities themselves, grounded in empowering local actors to become part of the solution and key drivers of change and sustainable peace.
The implementation of the organization’s second strategic objective reflected this approach by focusing on activating the role of local communities, strengthening their capacities, and building an integrated system for conflict management and peacebuilding from the bottom up, while taking into account the specific local context and its needs. 📌
This objective revolved around a set of sub-objectives that together formed an integrated pathway for community peacebuilding, including:
🔹 Activating mechanisms for conflict resolution and community mediation with broad participation from local stakeholders.
🔹 Building the capacities of communities and local institutions in conflict management and peacebuilding, enhancing their readiness and ensuring the sustainability of their roles.
🔹 Developing and managing knowledge frameworks that support peaceful coexistence and social cohesion, while documenting experiences and building upon them.
🔹 Strengthening governance systems and institutional development within conflict-affected communities as an entry point for promoting stability.
🔹 Raising awareness and advocating for peacebuilding issues locally, regionally, and internationally, while linking field efforts to broader societal impact.
🔹 Expanding community participation, with particular attention to the roles of youth and women as key actors in peace processes.
Through this pathway, peacebuilding evolved from temporary interventions into a continuous community-driven process led by local actors and grounded in dialogue, partnership, and collective responsibility—ultimately strengthening community resilience and supporting the foundations of sustainable peace.
