About Activity

Yemen faces weak coordination between local and national actors, limiting efforts to engage youth and women in decision-making processes. With the ongoing conflict, there is an urgent need for a deeper understanding of the challenges facing these groups and for identifying potential partners to strengthen collaboration and foster positive impacts.

As part of the Sharakat project, the activity "Assessment of Interventions" was conducted to collect accurate information on past interventions, explore the barriers to youth and women’s participation in decision-making, and identify potential partners. The activity employed a mix of research methods, including a review of available literature, qualitative interviews with key stakeholders, and electronic surveys targeting diverse participants.

The activity was carried out from February 1 to March 31, 2022, in the districts of Seera (Aden), Al-Mudhaffar (Taiz), and Al-Mukalla (Hadramout). Civil society organizations and local initiatives actively participated in the activity, contributing to the collection of accurate data and the preparation of a comprehensive report to guide future efforts in enhancing youth and women’s participation.

Activity Results

·       Thirteen qualitative interviews were conducted with key stakeholders from the districts of Seera (Aden), Al-Mudhaffar (Taiz), and Al-Mukalla (Hadramout), providing in-depth insights into the challenges and opportunities for youth and women’s engagement. The discussions identified gaps in coordination between local and national actors, which highlighted areas needing improvement.

·       Additionally, electronic surveys engaged 45 respondents, including 25 men and 20 women. These surveys were designed to collect comprehensive quantitative and qualitative data, offering a holistic view of the current situation and the needs of the target groups.

·       Finally, a detailed bilingual report (Arabic and English) was prepared based on the data and analyses derived from the activity. The report provided an extensive analysis of the barriers to youth and women’s participation and presented actionable recommendations to strengthen cooperation among actors and enhance youth and women’s involvement in decision-making processes.
