About Activity

The official opening of the production workshop of the Youth Without Borders for Development (YWBOD) organization and the exhibition of the various products of the workshop was held. This activity is part of the "Youth Depend on Themselves" project implemented by the Youth Without Borders for Development organization in partnership with the Taiz Development Network, Ador Youth Development Organization, and Siraj Development Organization, and funded by the Canadian Local Initiatives Support Fund (CLFI) and the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

The project aims to reduce the poverty and unemployment rates among young people in Taiz by engaging them in economic activities that provide job opportunities for young people to be self-reliant and participate in public life. The project continued for a period of four months, during which many activities were implemented that contributed to achieving the overall goal and specific objectives of the project.

It is worth noting that the project went through several phases, the first of which was the preparation and opening of a sewing workshop equipped with all the necessary tools and equipment. Thereafter, 15 young women were trained on how to use the workshop's machines so they could work in the workshop and produce products that meet the needs of the local market, providing a source of income for these young women.

Additionally, the capabilities of 15 young men and women were built in marketing skills, and they were involved in the project through marketing the products of the production workshop. They worked on marketing these products in the city's districts and rural districts in Taiz Governorate. After that, an exhibition of the workshop's products was held to introduce the workshop and market its products.

The project employed 30 young men and women as an initial phase, which enabled these young people to be self-reliant, work to earn income, and stay away from illegal behaviors. It was expected that the project would be expanded as a second phase in the future by targeting other governorates to sell and distribute the products of the production workshop.
