About Activity

Youth contribute to Strengthening Community Security and Peace in Al-Qahirah district, Taiz

After building the capacity of its members, the Supportive Youth Initiative is working on "Rehabilitation and Repair of Sewage Network Supply" (with a distance of 14.6 meters) in the Al-Samil market area "Al-Jaheem" in Al-Qahirah district. The project aims to resolve the community conflicts caused by sewage overflows in the area, as well as alleviate the citizens' suffering from the health, psychological, and social damages that have persisted since 2015. The project will benefit 226 families in the "Al-Samil Market" area.

The project also raised awareness among 150 families about the safe use of the sewage system. In addition, it advocated for the issue of sewage overflow in the marginalized communities in the "Al-Dabouah" area.

The project was implemented with partial funding from the Youth Without Borders organization as part of the "Active Communities" project, in partnership with Saferworld and in coordination with the local authority and the local water institution, with the participation and contribution of the local community in Al-Qahirah district.

It is worth noting that the "Active Communities" project aims to ensure the stability of local communities across Yemen and their ability to adapt to various shocks, and to ensure the inclusiveness of the peace-building process that will lead to a sustainable long-term political settlement. This is done through capacity-building activities, engaging initiatives and coalitions, and providing technical and financial support to contribute to addressing the root causes of conflict and insecurity, and strengthening the peace-building process in the community according to priority issues.
