The paper examines the catastrophic effects of ongoing conflicts in Yemen, highlighting the importance of a grassroots approach to peacebuilding. It emphasizes the role of community initiatives, particularly those led by youth, in promoting sustainable peace at the local level. Given the multifaceted and complex dynamics of the conflict in Yemen, relying solely on externally driven or controlled peace efforts is insufficient. While the peacebuilding environment in Yemen remains complicated, there is a recognition of the significance of a grassroots approach that involves all societal segments, civil society organizations, and local leaders as an effective strategy for fostering reconciliation, rebuilding social cohesion, and promoting sustainable peace. Community initiatives within the third track, especially those led by youth, play a crucial role in Yemen's grassroots peacebuilding efforts, particularly in enhancing sustainable peace at the local level. These initiatives empower communities to engage in and take responsibility for implementing peacebuilding activities, thereby fostering inclusivity and ownership, which in turn strengthens the collective sense of responsibility for building a peaceful society. Together, these initiatives create a synergistic approach that addresses the root causes of conflict and paves the way for lasting peace in Yemen.
