My journey began with a passion for sports and community work. I used to organize simple sports activities through personal efforts, despite the difficult conditions caused by the war and the limited resources available. I wanted to turn this passion into more organized and meaningful work.
The turning point came when I joined the Youth Services Center affiliated with Youth Without Borders Organization for Development. After being accepted, I participated in a training workshop for the Center’s staff in Taiz and Aden. This experience helped me move from informal individual efforts to working within structured programs and clearer professional mechanisms.
I later worked in the sports program in partnership with the psychosocial support program. We organized activities for community sports teams in three districts, in cooperation with local authorities and sports institutions. We also organized a chess tournament for girls, volleyball tournaments, and other activities.
The transition was not easy, especially under difficult circumstances, but the support of the Center’s team and the spirit of collaboration helped me continue and develop.
This experience changed me personally and professionally. I gained stronger skills in organizing and managing programs and became more confident in leading community and sports activities.
The impact went beyond my own development. Together, we helped create safe and organized sports and recreational spaces for young people and girls, while integrating sports with psychosocial support.
Through this journey, I learned that opportunities exist, but reaching them requires courage, persistence, and the willingness to take the first step.
Success is not out of reach. Sometimes, it begins when we give ourselves the chance to try.
