About Project
Amid Yemen’s ongoing challenges, including the conflict that has significantly impacted youth and women, there is an urgent need for innovative and sustainable interventions that enhance their participation in decision-making processes. The Sharakat project stands out as a pioneering initiative aimed at bridging the gap between civil society organizations, local initiatives, and decision-makers. The project is being implemented in the governorates of Aden, Taiz, and Hadramout, focusing on empowering youth and women and supporting their role in fostering peace and sustainable development.
The project seeks to achieve inclusive peace by empowering civil society and strengthening cooperation between local and national actors. Its main objectives include enabling youth and women to actively participate in decision-making processes and enhancing the capacity of civil society organizations to effectively address youth-related issues. These objectives are designed to meet the needs of the target groups, equipping them with the skills and tools necessary for leadership and driving positive change within their communities.
The project’s activities have yielded tangible achievements, including training 72 young leaders (24 from each of Aden, Taiz, and Hadramout) in leadership and decision-making, enhancing their skills and preparing them for impactful leadership roles. Furthermore, 60 youth affiliated with seven political parties participated in programs designed to strengthen their advocacy and policymaking capacities. Similarly, 12 youth development units were established within local government ministries, providing a supportive environment that encourages innovation and active participation.
Notably, the project’s impact extended beyond individual capacity-building. Advocacy campaigns reached over 244,036 people through social media platforms, raising awareness about the importance of youth and women’s inclusion in decision-making processes. These efforts reflect the project’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and sustainable environment that supports peace and development in Yemen.
